Get You A Me: Home Decor Edition

Scottie Beam + Sylvia Obell

Providing a public service.

Scottie Beam and Sylvia Obell host Okay, Now Listen, the podcast, where their comedic chemistry is on display. Their audio gems are a treat, but on screen? These women are stewing in a different type of sauce. Between styling, facial expressions and their sisterly banter, they have a hit.

Black women have been asking our men to do better for as long as we can remember. In many cases, these men simply haven’t been taught how to weave into their lives the basic things that women desire. Get You A Me is a playful but purposeful limited web series that coaches young bachelors on how to become more eligible. The show is partially about what women want, but more importantly about showing men how to enhance the quality of their lives with practices that have been culturally considered feminine. (i.e. cleaning the house..dot dot…question mark?)

Three men are laced with practical tips on how to be more intentional in the ways they dress, curate their living environments and communicate. Episode 2 highlights the home as an opportunity for self-expression. Freddie (Bachelor #2) made little attempt to make his house comfortable and it’s clear that chores are not a priority.

For expert insight, the ladies bring on Synthea Gonzales of Synthesis Production Design (come on WOC in production design 👏🏾!!!) By rearranging the space, incorporating some color and adding a few necessary design elements like…..tables, Synthea gets Freddie together. A one day makeover completely refreshes his space and his outlook on what a home should feel like.

We owe Scottie Beam, Sylvia Obell and Synthea Gonzales thank you for this public service.

We love to see #blackwomenwinning.
